I often get complimented on my silk jackets (thank you!) and asked, “Where can I buy Chinese clothes in Atlanta?”
—————
I bought mine on my Asia trip or wore family hand-me-down’s (Grandma, you’re back in fashion!). Believe it or not, I am considered an XXL size in China (!). And it was hard to find real silk. The vendors all gave me funny looks and said, “Polyester is better. No wrinkle.” Overseas, most locals want practical or the latest brand names off the runway so you’ll have to head to the tourist areas.

I asked Dad and he said, “I don’t know. We shop at TJMaxx!” Thanks, Dad. My next resource up the Chinese-ness ladder recommended Rainbow Fashion in the Hoa Binh Supermarket (or He Ping in Mandarin Chinese) shopping center, 4897 Buford Highway, Atlanta 30341.

Warning: The traditional long Chinese dresses (qi pao) are modern bondage. Don’t wear one to a banquet–you won’t be able to get through the 8-course meal! (Or wear it and you will surely DIE-T by not eating) Either way you’ll look gorgeous, darling, but you’ll be velly velly uncomfortable. Opt for a silk top 🙂
